The 4th edition of the African Nations Wheelchair Basketball Championship opened on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Sports Citadel of Luanda, Angola. Originally planned to be held in Egypt, the event was relocated to Luanda. The championship, which serves as a qualifier for the 2014 World Championship, features six participating countries: South Africa, Angola, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, and Nigeria.
The decision to host the tournament in Luanda was motivated by Angola’s role as the chair of the African Paralympic Committee, and the organizers expressed their commitment to the successful execution of the event. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) also announced the dates for the 2014 IWBF Men’s World Championship in Incheon, South Korea (July 1 to 12), and the Women’s World Championship in Toronto, Canada (July 19 to 29).
