Kylian Mbappe responds to criticism over his teamwork

Kylian Mbappe has responded firmly to criticism of his defensive work, running and overall influence, insisting that his goals should never be viewed as a problem for his team.

Speaking to France Football, the Real Madrid forward explained that sustained excellence often changes the way people judge a player.

The France captain has started the season impressively, scoring five goals in five matches, including four in La Liga and one in the Champions League. Despite that record, discussions have continued to focus on what he does without the ball rather than what he consistently delivers in front of goal.

“I think it is not normal, but that is the life of someone who has been close to excellence for years,” Mbappe said. “Everyone has known for years what I can do, so people naturally look at what I do not do.”

He also rejected the suggestion that personal scoring numbers can damage team performances. “A player who scores goals will never be a problem in a team,” he stated. “I have never seen a team win titles by scoring zero goals.”

Mbappe accepts constructive feedback but refuses to let criticism dictate his choices. He said he has learned to separate useful analysis from remarks he considers “a little more foolish.” When convinced a decision is necessary, the forward prefers to trust his judgment and move forward.
