UFOA-A U17 Tournament: Gambia beat Mauritania 3-1 to strengthen campaign

Gambia U17 secured a 3-1 victory over Mauritania at Stade Lat-Dior in Thies on Thursday, 10 September 2026, in the second round of Group A at the UFOA-A tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Scorpions took a 1-0 lead into half-time, but Mauritania levelled four minutes after the restart when they scored in the 49th minute.

Gambia quickly regained control, with substitute Omar Badjie restoring their advantage in the 78th minute with a low shot.

The victory was sealed in added time when Muhammed Jatta produced a fine finish in the 90th+4 minute to score Gambia’s third goal. Badjie, who made a notable impact after coming on, was named Player of the Match.
