Al Mokawloon reveal Idrissa Thiam’s contract value after Al Ahly display

Al Mokawloon Al Arab signed Mauritanian midfielder Idrissa Thiam on a free transfer, with his contract worth no more than $120,000, a source at the club has told FilGoal.com.

Thiam attracted attention during his side’s 1-1 draw with Al Ahly in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League, producing a performance that helped Al Mokawloon secure a point against the reigning title challengers.

“We signed Idrissa Thiam as a free agent, and his contract did not exceed $120,000,” the source said.

The source added: “Thiam is a great talent, and Sami Komsan insisted on signing him after seeing him.”

Al Mokawloon took the lead in the 39th minute when Islam Gaber converted a penalty. Al Ahly responded after half-time, with Ahmed Sayed Zizo equalising in the 58th minute.

The result brought Al Ahly’s winning start to an end and left them with 10 points from their opening four league matches, level with Zamalek.

Al Mokawloon moved to four points and sit 13th in the table.

Pyramids took advantage of Al Ahly’s dropped points to move clear at the top of the league with 12 points.
