Zamalek provide injury update on Mohamed El Sayed, Mahmoud Gihad and Amr Nasser

Zamalek have confirmed that Mohamed El Sayed will be sidelined for about 20 days, while Amr Nasser is expected to need a similar period before returning to full team training.

The club’s director of football, Abdel Nasser Mohamed, also revealed that Mahmoud Gihad has suffered a bruise to the pelvic bone but should remain available for selection.

Zamalek issued the update after their 1-0 victory over Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fourth round of the league. The result extended their run to three clean sheets in four league matches this season.

“Mahmoud Gihad’s injury is a bruise to the pelvic bone that caused temporary pain, but it does not prevent him from taking part in matches,” Abdel Nasser Mohamed said through the club’s media centre.

El Sayed injury unrelated to previous problem

Mohamed El Sayed was injured in the match against Abu Qir Fertilizers and will miss approximately 20 days after sustaining an injury to the metatarsals in his foot.

“Mohamed El Sayed will be out for around 20 days after injuring the metatarsals in his foot during the Abu Qir Fertilizers match, and this injury is unrelated to his previous injury,” Abdel Nasser Mohamed added.

Amr Nasser, meanwhile, will also require about 20 days before he can resume collective training with the squad.

“Amr Nasser, the team’s striker, needs around 20 days before returning to group training,” Abdel Nasser Mohamed said.

The victory moved Zamalek to 10 points. The club were described as league leaders after the match, while later standings details placed them second, ahead of Al Ahly on goal difference.

Zamalek’s next fixture is away to Ghazl El Mahalla in the fifth round of the league on Wednesday.

The league will then pause after the fifth round because of the international break. When the competition resumes, the sixth round will include the derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek.
