Al Ahly target return to winning ways against Abu Qir Fertilizers in Egyptian Premier League

Al Ahly will look to recover from a disappointing draw when they face Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday, 15 September.

The match will be played at Cairo International Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00. It will be broadcast on ON Sport.

Al Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Mokawloon Al Arab in their previous league fixture, a result that saw them drop to third place in the table. They have taken 10 points from their opening four matches and are level on goal difference with second-placed Zamalek.

The meeting with Abu Qir Fertilizers will also mark Al Ahly’s return to Cairo International Stadium. Their previous game was played away from home at Al Mokawloon Al Arab Stadium, which was the first time they had left their usual venue during the current campaign.

Al Ahly began the season with three wins before being denied victory by Al Mokawloon Al Arab. The draw leaves them behind Zamalek in the standings despite both teams having collected the same number of points after four rounds.

Abu Qir Fertilizers, meanwhile, have three points from their first four matches. Their campaign started with a victory over National Bank of Egypt in the opening round, but they have since suffered three consecutive defeats.

Those losses came against Pyramids, Al Ittihad and Zamalek respectively, leaving Abu Qir Fertilizers at the other end of the table compared with their next opponents.

The fixture therefore presents Al Ahly with an opportunity to move forward after dropping points in their last outing, while Abu Qir Fertilizers will be seeking to end their run of defeats. The two sides will meet at Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday evening in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
