Zizo scores second league goal for Al Ahly against Arab Contractors

Ahmed Sayed Zizo scored from the penalty spot as Al Ahly came from behind to draw with Arab Contractors in the fourth round of the league.

Al Ahly were playing away from home after winning their opening three league matches of the season. Arab Contractors took the lead in the 39th minute when Islam Gaber converted a penalty.

Zizo restored parity 13 minutes after half-time, also scoring from the spot in the 58th minute. The goal was his second for Al Ahly in the league this season.

The 29-year-old had previously scored in Al Ahly’s opening-round match against Eastern Company Enppi, with that goal also coming from a penalty.

Zizo has now contributed 17 goals in 36 appearances for Al Ahly since joining the club. His record for the Egyptian side stands at seven goals and 10 assists.

His latest strike ensured Al Ahly avoided defeat after Arab Contractors had taken the lead, although it ended the reigning league leaders’ perfect start to the campaign after three victories from their first three fixtures.

Zizo’s equaliser came during a match in which Al Ahly were attempting to maintain their early momentum in the competition. Arab Contractors, meanwhile, had the advantage for much of the contest after Gaber’s first-half penalty, before Al Ahly’s forward levelled the score from the same distance.

The result means Zizo continues to make a direct contribution to Al Ahly’s attack since his arrival, with his two league goals this season both having been scored from penalties. His overall tally in the club’s colours now includes seven goals, while his 10 assists take his total number of goal contributions to 17.

Al Ahly’s next matches will follow a start in which they had collected three wins before facing Arab Contractors. For Arab Contractors, the draw secured a share of the points after they had led for part of the game.

The meeting also marked another appearance in which Zizo played a decisive role for Al Ahly. After Gaber’s opener put the home side in front, the forward responded in the second half to bring the scores level and preserve Al Ahly’s unbeaten record in the league this season.
