Bayern Munich hand Germany Under-19 prospect Tim Binder contract until 2030

Bayern Munich have handed 19-year-old attacking prospect Tim Binder his first professional contract, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2030.

Binder joined Bayern’s academy from Augsburg in 2019, when he was 12, and has since progressed through every age group within the club’s youth system.

The Germany Under-19 international can operate in attack either as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He has made four appearances for Germany Under-19s.

The teenager featured for Vincent Kompany’s first team during the most recent pre-season programme and made a positive impression on the coaching staff. He also played for Bayern’s reserve side in the regional league.

Binder is currently working to regain full fitness after suffering a tear to the fibres of his right hamstring, Bayern Munich said on the club’s official website.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund praised the youngster’s development and said the club were pleased to have secured his long-term future.

“Tim has huge potential; he is quick, strong when dribbling and has an excellent personality. He showed his talent again during pre-season with the professionals… He joined us at a young age and has developed continuously through the youth teams. We are delighted to continue this journey with him at Bayern.”

Several other clubs had shown an interest in taking Binder on loan during the summer. Bayern, however, presented him with a clear pathway towards the first team, which persuaded the player to remain with the Bundesliga champions.

The contract represents the latest step in a development that began when Binder moved to the club from Augsburg as a young player. After progressing through Bayern’s academy, he has now been offered a long-term opportunity to establish himself within the senior setup under Kompany.

His appearances during pre-season came as Bayern assessed several players around the first-team squad, while his involvement with the reserve team has provided further competitive experience. His current hamstring injury means his immediate focus is on returning to full readiness before he can continue pushing for further senior opportunities.

Bayern’s decision to retain Binder also ends the possibility of a temporary move elsewhere this summer. The club’s confidence in his potential, combined with the route it has outlined towards the first team, led to the player choosing to continue his career in Munich.

The agreement keeps Binder tied to Bayern Munich for the next four seasons and gives the club further time to develop a player who has already represented Germany at Under-19 level.
