Guela Doue back in Bayer Leverkusen training
Guela Doue is back in Bayer Leverkusen’s full squad training and has taken an important step toward being available for this weekend’s Bundesliga trip to FC Augsburg.
The 23-year-old right-back trained with his teammates on Tuesday, easing concerns after he had recently been working on a reduced load because of minor physical issues.
The summer signing has now apparently shaken off those complaints, which puts a squad place firmly within reach. That said, his match fitness still needs to be assessed after the lighter training period, so a starting role is not guaranteed yet. Leverkusen will want to be sure he is fully ready before rushing him into competitive action.
Head coach Carles Martinez is expected to give a clearer update at Friday’s press conference, where the club’s medical and personnel situation should become easier to read. Until then, Doué’s availability remains promising but not certain.
For Leverkusen, his return is a welcome boost because Doue adds energy, athleticism, and natural width on the right side. If he clears the final fitness checks, he could at least make the squad for Augsburg and possibly see his first minutes after the recent setback.
