Farès Chaïbi misses Eintracht Frankfurt training through illness
Farès Chaïbi has been forced to sit out Eintracht Frankfurt’s latest training session because of illness, leaving his status for the weekend Bundesliga trip to Mainz uncertain.
The 23-year-old midfielder was not on the pitch on Wednesday as Frankfurt began preparing for the next league match.
The club said only that a sickness kept Chaïbi away, without giving any further details. That means there is no clear timetable yet for his return, and the coaching staff will wait to see how quickly he recovers before making any decision on his availability.
Frankfurt were already managing a few absences. Malik Pimpong also missed training due to illness, while Ansgar Knauff and Jessic Ngankam are still working their way back in rehabilitation. There was at least one positive sign, though, as Nnamdi Collins was expected to take part in part of the group session.
Chaïbi’s absence matters because he has become an important option in midfield, especially in matches where Frankfurt need control and creativity. If he improves quickly, he could still be in contention for the Mainz game, but the club will not take chances with a player who is feeling unwell.
