Mahmoud Abdel Rahim “Gennesh” will start in goal for Abu Qir Fertilizers when they face Zamalek in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Head coach Magdy Abdel Ati has named an attacking line-up led by Mahmoud Abu Gouda as Abu Qir Fertilizers attempt to secure a second victory of the season.
The newly promoted side will begin the match with Gennesh behind a four-man defence. Jaber Kamel, Mohamed Debash, Ahmed Awad and Mohamed Alaa make up the back line.
Ramiz Milad, Omar Ibrahim and Youssef Hamdy have been selected in midfield, while the attack consists of Fivor Akeem, Abu Gouda and Mohamed Kamara.
The full Abu Qir Fertilizers team is:
Goalkeeper: Mahmoud Abdel Rahim “Gennesh”
Defenders: Jaber Kamel, Mohamed Debash, Ahmed Awad, Mohamed Alaa
Midfielders: Ramiz Milad, Omar Ibrahim, Youssef Hamdy
Forwards: Fivor Akeem, Mahmoud Abu Gouda, Mohamed Kamara
Abu Qir Fertilizers currently sit 15th in the table with three points from their opening three matches. They won their opening-round fixture before suffering defeats in their next two games.
Zamalek, meanwhile, occupy third place with seven points.
The fixture represents a meeting between a side making its first appearance in the Egyptian Premier League this season and one of the competition’s established clubs. Abu Qir Fertilizers reached the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in the club’s history this season.
Abdel Ati has opted to retain an attacking shape for the fourth-round contest, with Abu Gouda positioned at the centre of the forward line and Akeem and Kamara completing the front three.
Gennesh’s inclusion gives Abu Qir Fertilizers an experienced figure in goal as they look to respond to their two successive losses. The team’s three points came from their opening victory, leaving them 15th before the meeting with Zamalek.
Zamalek arrive with seven points and a place in the top three, giving them the stronger position in the early league standings. Abu Qir Fertilizers will therefore be seeking to improve their points total while continuing their first-ever campaign at Egypt’s top level.
The match is the fourth-round encounter between the two teams, with both starting line-ups now confirmed.
