Zamalek set two conditions for Juan Bezerra transfer to Shabab Al Ahli

Zamalek will only agree to Juan Bezerra’s proposed move to Shabab Al Ahli if the Brazilian returns to Cairo to complete negotiations and the Egyptian club secures a deal worth close to $7m, according to a source at the club.

Bezerra has declined to return to Cairo for Zamalek’s pre-season camp because he wants to join the UAE club. Shabab Al Ahli have increased their offer for the player to $5m, but Zamalek have rejected the proposal in its current form.

A source told FilGoal: “Zamalek are insisting on two essential conditions before agreeing to Juan Bezerra’s departure. The first is that the player returns to Cairo to complete the negotiations.”

The source added: “The second condition is that Zamalek receive the maximum possible financial benefit, with the club securing the $5m fee as well as 20% of the value of any future resale of the player.”

Zamalek are also demanding that Shabab Al Ahli cover a further payment owed to Bezerra’s former club, Oleksandriya of Ukraine. That amount represents 20% of the transfer value and could reach $1m.

The Egyptian club also wants the UAE side to pay the solidarity contribution linked to the transfer.

The solidarity contribution is a payment worth 5% of the compensation involved when a professional player moves during the course of his contract. It is distributed to clubs that helped train and develop the player during his youth and academy years.

With those demands included, the overall value of the proposed transfer would be close to $7m.

Zamalek’s refusal to accept the initial offer has led Bezerra to maintain his position and refuse to join the squad. The club have begun the season without him and have played four matches since the campaign started.

The Brazilian made 44 appearances for Zamalek in all competitions last season. He scored eight goals and provided 12 assists.

Bezerra helped Zamalek win the Egyptian Premier League last season, but they were beaten by penalties in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup. He has not returned to Cairo since the end of that campaign.

The negotiations now depend on whether Bezerra agrees to return to Egypt and whether Shabab Al Ahli accept responsibility for the additional payments requested by Zamalek, including the amount due to Oleksandriya and the solidarity contribution.
