Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou among Betway Premiership’s August award winners

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has been recognised among the leading performers in the first Betway Premiership Monthly Awards of the 2026/27 season after guiding the reigning champions through an unbeaten opening month.

The French-Moroccan tactician oversaw three wins and a draw in Pirates’ first four league matches, continuing the strong work that marked his first season in charge of the club.

Ouaddou was one of several prominent names acknowledged for their performances during an entertaining August in the Betway Premiership.

AmaZulu forward Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya was also among the award winners after producing a prolific run in front of goal.

The 23-year-old Zimbabwean international scored five times in four matches, a sequence that moved him to the top of the Betway Premiership scoring charts.

Ngwenya’s goals have also helped AmaZulu, known as Usuthu, rise to fourth place in the league table.

He claimed the Player of the Month award after beating competition from TS Galaxy forward Victor Letsoalo and Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema.

The monthly awards recognise the standout individual contributions from the opening round of league action and were decided by a panel of PSL media-accredited judges.

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Brayan Leon completed the list of recognised players by winning the Goal of the Month award.

Leon’s prize came for a clinical volley against AmaZulu. The effort was judged ahead of a free-kick scored by his Sundowns team-mate Teboho Mokoena in the same match.

Vincent Pule’s impressive strike for Siwelele FC against TS Galaxy was also among the goals considered for the award.

The honours provide early recognition for the players and coach who made the strongest impact during August, with Pirates’ unbeaten beginning giving Ouaddou a promising start to the new campaign.

For Ngwenya, his five-goal return has placed him at the front of the scoring race while contributing directly to AmaZulu’s position inside the league’s top four.

The winners were selected after the first month of action in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
