Morocco’s Hossam Essadak joins Saudi side Al Fateh on season-long loan

Moroccan midfielder Hossam Essadak has joined Saudi Pro League club Al Fateh on a season-long loan from Union Touarga.

The 21-year-old completed his medical in Al-Ahsa before finalising his move, with Al Fateh confirming the arrival of one of Morocco’s promising young talents on Sunday.

Essadak, who helped Morocco achieve continental and global success at youth level, had previously been linked with a move to Europe before his proposed transfer to Swiss side Lausanne-Sport collapsed.

Al Fateh strengthen with Moroccan talent

“Al Fateh management has officially announced the completion of signing Moroccan midfielder Hossam Essadak on a one-season loan from Moroccan club Union Touarga to represent the first football team,” the Saudi club announced.

“This move comes as part of the club management’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the first team with top-tier talent, leveraging the player’s high technical capabilities and physical attributes to provide a strong addition to Al-Namoodhaji’s midfield for the upcoming season,” they added.

The move gives Essadak the opportunity to test himself in one of the Middle East’s leading leagues as Saudi Arabian football continues to attract players from across Africa.

From Morocco’s academy system to Saudi Arabia

A graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, Essadak made his professional debut for Union Touarga in 2024.

The midfielder has also established himself as one of the standout players from Morocco’s highly successful youth generation.

He impressed for Morocco at the 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations before playing an important role in the Young Atlas Lions’ historic triumph at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup.

His development at club and international level had attracted interest from outside Africa, with reports in July suggesting that Swiss club Lausanne-Sport had reached an agreement to sign him for a fee of around 600,000 euros.

European move collapses

However, the proposed transfer to Switzerland failed to materialise, opening the door for Al Fateh to secure the young playmaker instead.

Essadak will now look to build on his performances for Union Touarga and Morocco’s youth teams as he begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.

For the 21-year-old, the move represents another significant step in a career that has already seen him emerge as part of an exciting new generation of Moroccan footballers making their mark on the African and global stages.
