Juventus leave it late to frustrate Milan in Italian derby

Juventus rescued a point with a stoppage-time equaliser against Milan, drawing 1-1 in a dramatic Serie A clash on Sunday.

Milan appeared set to claim victory after taking the lead in the 68th minute through Alfadj Cisse. The forward received a cross inside the penalty area, moved beyond the defence and sent a low shot into the net.

But Juventus refused to concede defeat and levelled in the second minute of added time. Federico Gatti rose to meet the ball and powered a header into the roof of the net, sparking celebrations at Allianz Stadium.

The result leaves both sides with seven points from their opening three league matches. Juventus sit fourth and Milan fifth, while Roma lead the standings with nine points. Inter are also on nine points but occupy second place on goal difference.

The late equaliser came from a very different route, with Gatti’s powerful header finding the top corner and sending the home supporters into celebration. The goal ensured the points were shared after a match in which Milan had been within moments of taking all three.

The game was played as part of the third round of the Italian top flight, with both clubs now moving to seven points. Roma remain at the summit with nine, followed by Inter on goal difference.
