Barca Atletic began their Second Division campaign in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 victory over Naxara, as Ignasi Quer scored four times to make an immediate case for a leading role in the reserve side’s attack.
Quer’s performance was the defining feature of a one-sided opening match. The Spanish striker found the net four times, producing what amounted to a super hat-trick and establishing himself as one of the early contenders for the centre-forward position at Barca Atletic.
The breakthrough arrived after only 20 seconds. Aziz led a swift attack before supplying a decisive pass to Quer, who converted with composure to give Barca Atletic the perfect start to the season.
That early goal set the tone for the rest of the match. Quer continued to threaten Naxara’s defence and added three more goals, completing his outstanding haul before the final whistle. His four-goal display ensured Barca Atletic opened their league campaign with a convincing five-goal margin and gave the forward an immediate platform from which to build.
The result also creates a fresh attacking selection issue for the club’s reserve team. Hamza Abdelkarim is part of the plans for Barca Atletic and is also linked with the first team, but Quer’s sudden emergence adds another option to the group of forwards being considered.
Abdelkarim’s position within the club’s plans could therefore face stronger competition in the coming period. Quer’s performance came at the earliest possible stage of the campaign, but scoring four times in the opening round gives him significant momentum as the coaching staff assess their attacking choices.
For now, Barca Atletic have made a forceful opening statement in the Second Division. The 5-0 win over Naxara provided the team with an ideal start, while Quer’s contribution placed his name prominently in the discussion over who should lead the attack.
His performance does not remove Abdelkarim from the picture, particularly given the Egyptian forward’s connection with both Barca Atletic and the first team. However, it does mean the reserve side now has a new attacking threat demanding attention after Quer turned the opening match into his personal showcase.
With four goals in a single game, Quer has announced himself as a serious rival for the centre-forward role and given Barca Atletic an unexpected selection headache at the beginning of the season.
