Reda Slim says ‘no truth’ in Al Ahly contract break-up story

Reda Slim has rejected reports that he has agreed to terminate his contract with Al Ahly by mutual consent and is preparing to return to Moroccan club AS FAR.

The Morocco international spent last season on loan at AS FAR, helping the club reach the CAF Champions League final. Their campaign ultimately ended in defeat by South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speculation had suggested that Slim’s time at Al Ahly was coming to an end and that an agreement had been reached to end his contract. The reports also claimed that he was close to rejoining AS FAR after his successful loan spell.

Slim dismissed those claims in an official statement published on his Instagram account.

“Some news reports and social media pages have circulated rumours claiming that an agreement has been reached to terminate my contract with Egyptian club Al Ahly by mutual consent, and that I am close to returning to AS FAR. However, these reports have no basis in truth,” he said.

The 25-year-old added that his immediate priority was to regain full physical and technical readiness as he attempts to establish himself at Al Ahly.

“I am currently focusing completely on my physical and technical readiness, in order to deliver the best possible performances and become part of the technical staff’s options as I compete for a starting position at Al Ahly,” Slim said.

Slim’s statement directly addresses the reports linking him with a permanent departure from the Cairo-based club, while also making clear that he remains focused on competing for opportunities within Al Ahly’s squad.

His loan spell at AS FAR had strengthened the connection between the player and the Moroccan club. Slim played a key role in the team’s run to the CAF Champions League final, where they were beaten by Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, there was no confirmation in Slim’s statement of an agreement to leave Al Ahly or of a return to AS FAR. Instead, he described the reports as unfounded and said his attention was on improving his condition and winning a place in the team.

The player’s comments come as he seeks to re-establish himself at Al Ahly and challenge for regular involvement. His stated aim is to be considered by the coaching staff for a starting role rather than to focus on the reports surrounding his future.
