South African outfit Siwelele FC sack coach Lehlohonolo Seema after winless start to season

South African Premiership outfit Siwelele FC have parted ways with head coach Lehlohonolo Seema following their difficult start to the new campaign.

Seema has been dismissed alongside his assistant coach Willem Jackson after Siwelele suffered a 3-2 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in a Premiership encounter on Sunday.

The defeat extended Siwelele’s difficult run at the beginning of the season, with the Mangaung-based club yet to record a victory.

Despite the decision to remove the coaching duo, the club insisted that its long-term plans remain intact and called on supporters to continue backing the team.

“This has been a challenging period for the club, and our supporters deserve better than what they have seen so far this season,” Siwelele said in a statement released on Monday morning.

The club acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the team’s early results but maintained that it remains confident in the squad and the project being developed.

“Our belief in this team, in our players and in what we are building at Siwelele remains unchanged,” the statement continued.

Siwelele also stressed that there is still plenty of football to be played this season and urged unity as the club looks to recover from its difficult opening period.

“Our season is still young. We will face the challenge in front of us together, as one team and one family,” the club added.

Seema’s departure comes after a frustrating spell in charge, with the coach unable to guide Siwelele to a win before being relieved of his duties.

The defeat to Kaizer Chiefs was particularly painful as Siwelele showed enough attacking quality to score twice but ultimately conceded three goals and left the field empty-handed.

The club will now begin the search for a new head coach as it looks to steady the ship and turn its season around.

For Seema, the dismissal brings an end to his time with the Mangaung-based outfit, while Jackson also departs as part of the coaching changes.

With the campaign still in its early stages, Siwelele will be hoping a change in the technical team can provide the spark needed to transform their fortunes and deliver the results their supporters are demanding.
