Senegal’s Ousmane Sow scores again as Jagiellonia beat Śląsk Wrocław

Senegal winger Ousmane Sow scored for the second time in three league appearances as Jagiellonia Białystok beat Śląsk Wrocław 2-1 at home on Saturday.

Sow, making his second consecutive start since joining the Polish club, continued his impressive early form by scoring Jagiellonia’s second goal in the seventh round of the Polish championship.

The 22-year-old had already made an impact in the previous league fixture, coming off the bench to score against Raków in the sixth round.

This time, he was included in the starting XI and again delivered an important contribution.

Kajetan Szmyt put Jagiellonia ahead in the 19th minute before Sow doubled the advantage in the 41st minute.

The Senegalese forward’s goal gave the hosts a two-goal cushion going into half-time and strengthened their position in the match.

Sow’s evening was brought to an early end shortly after the interval. He was substituted in the 51st minute, with Rodrigo Conceição coming on in his place.

Śląsk Wrocław eventually found a way back into the contest in the 81st minute when Samiec Talar converted a penalty.

The visitors were unable to find a second goal, however, allowing Jagiellonia to hold on for a 2-1 victory.

For Sow, the latest goal continues what has been a promising beginning to his spell in Poland.

The winger joined Jagiellonia during the summer from Brøndby IF on loan, with the Polish club holding an option to make the move permanent.

Since arriving, Sow has gradually established himself as an important part of Jagiellonia’s attacking options.

His performances have also followed a successful European debut during the Europa League play-offs, where he made a positive impression before carrying that form into domestic competition.

The goal against Śląsk Wrocław means Sow now has two league goals from three appearances.

His latest performance came in only his second start for Jagiellonia, following his appearance as a substitute against Raków.

The Senegal international has therefore taken his opportunities whenever they have come his way and is beginning to make a strong case for a regular role in the team’s attack.

Jagiellonia will be encouraged by the contribution of their new winger, particularly after he again found the net in an important league fixture.

Sow’s move from Brøndby has so far produced promising results, with the attacker combining his European experience with a growing influence in the Polish championship.

After scoring from the bench in his previous league appearance, he followed it up with another goal in his first start in the competition.

With two goals in three league matches, Sow has made an immediate impact in Białystok and is continuing to build momentum at Jagiellonia.
