Hamdallah’s instant response after Saadane injury in Saudi Pro League

Marwane Saadane was carried from the field on a stretcher after an accidental collision involving fellow Morocco international Abderrazak Hamdallah during Al-Fateh’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Taawoun.

The incident happened in the fifth round of the Saudi Arabian championship and left Saadane in visible pain. The defender was injured shortly before half-time after Hamdallah lost his balance while trying to keep possession and evade an opponent.

As Hamdallah fell, his full weight landed on Saadane’s leg around the ankle. Saadane immediately went to ground and appeared to be in considerable discomfort.

Hamdallah quickly recognised the seriousness of the situation. Rather than continuing with the play, the Al-Fateh attacker stayed beside his international team-mate and called for both the referee and the medical staff to come onto the pitch.

Saadane was eventually taken away on a stretcher in an unsettling moment for Al-Fateh’s players, staff and supporters. The defender will now undergo medical examinations and imaging tests to establish the precise nature of the injury and whether he faces a period on the sidelines.

No definitive diagnosis has been announced.

The injury is a particularly frustrating setback for Saadane, who remains in contention for Morocco and was involved at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He was used as a replacement for Nayef Aguerd during the tournament.

Although the footage of the incident made the collision appear severe, there was no suggestion that Hamdallah had deliberately caused the injury. The former Al-Ittihad striker simply lost his footing while attempting to retain the ball before falling onto Saadane.

Hamdallah’s immediate reaction underlined his concern. He turned towards Saadane as soon as the contact occurred, stayed with him and requested urgent assistance, rather than attempting to play on or downplay what had happened.

The Moroccan forward has often been portrayed as a player with a combustible temperament, but his actions in this incident were focused on the welfare of his compatriot. The circumstances were unfortunate, with no indication of malicious intent.

Al-Fateh must now wait for the results of Saadane’s scans before the extent of the problem becomes clear. Until those assessments are completed, the club and Morocco can only hope that the defender’s condition is less serious than the initial scenes suggested.
