Bayern Munich still seeking Sacha Boey exit as Saudi talks continue

Bayern Munich are still exploring the possibility of selling French defender Sacha Boey, with sporting director Max Eberl confirming that transfer options remain open for the 24-year-old.

Boey was again left out of Bayern’s squad for their goalless draw against Schalke, further raising questions over his future at the German champions.

With transfer windows still open in several countries, Bayern remain hopeful of finding a solution before their opportunities to move the defender on come to an end.

Eberl confirms Bayern’s position

Speaking after the Schalke match, Eberl suggested that the club’s stance on Boey has remained unchanged for several months.

“We have communicated very clearly from the beginning, for over four months now. There are still transfer windows open. Let’s see what happens,” he told Bild.

According to reports, Bayern are currently in discussions with clubs in Saudi Arabia over a possible transfer.

The Saudi Pro League has increasingly become an important destination for players from European clubs, particularly during periods when transfer windows elsewhere have already closed.

Saudi move remains under discussion

Boey is reportedly open in principle to a move to Saudi Arabia, although negotiations with interested clubs have yet to produce an agreement.

The French defender remains under contract at Bayern until 2028, giving the Bundesliga giants time to consider their options should a transfer fail to materialise.

However, with talks yet to reach a breakthrough, the possibility of Boey remaining in Munich is becoming increasingly realistic.

Bayern stay increasingly likely

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund admitted on Friday that the defender’s chances of staying had grown.

“The probability is naturally higher now that he will stay here.”

Boey’s continued exclusion from the matchday squad nevertheless suggests that his long-term future remains uncertain.

For now, Bayern will continue monitoring the remaining open transfer markets, with Saudi Arabia representing one of the possible destinations for the former Galatasaray defender.

The coming days could determine whether Boey begins a new chapter away from Germany or remains at Bayern despite the club’s efforts to secure his departure.
