Ruben Amorim confirms Fikayo Tomori has rejoined Milan training before Juventus test

Milan manager Ruben Amorim says Fikayo Tomori has returned to first-team training because it is the decision he believes best serves the club ahead of Sunday’s Serie A meeting with Juventus.

The England defender was praised by Amorim during his pre-match news conference, with the Milan manager stressing that the team’s interests were the main consideration behind Tomori’s reintegration into the squad.

“Tomori is a great player and he has looked good in training. The team is my priority, and I felt that bringing him back in was the best decision,” Amorim said.

Milan will face Juventus at Allianz Stadium in the third round of Serie A on Sunday, with both sides taking six points from their opening two league matches.

Milan currently sit fourth in the table, while Juventus are fifth. The two clubs are level on points as they prepare for their first meeting of the campaign.

Amorim also expressed satisfaction with Milan’s work in the transfer market and said the club’s new arrivals would have an important role during the season and beyond.

“I am very happy with the transfer window. We have some great new players who will help us during the season and in the future,” he said.

The manager described himself as a central figure in the dressing room, saying his responsibilities extended beyond tactical preparation and matchday decisions.

“I am the leader of the dressing room. My job is to help my players on and off the pitch,” Amorim added.

He also outlined the standards he expects from his players during their physical preparation and training work.

“I am very demanding in the gym and in training,” said Amorim.

However, the Portuguese coach said his approach away from football was focused on supporting the players and their families.

“Off the pitch, I am someone who wants to help them and help their families,” he said.

Tomori’s return to training comes as Milan prepare for a demanding away fixture against Juventus, with both teams seeking to maintain their 100% starts to the league season. The result at Allianz Stadium will determine which side can strengthen its position near the top of the Serie A standings.

Amorim’s comments placed the club’s collective needs at the centre of his decision regarding Tomori, while also highlighting the manager’s wider role within the squad. He said he wanted to offer strong direction on the pitch, while remaining available to support his players away from football.
