Jody February joins Siwelele FC on season-long loan from Mamelodi Sundowns

Siwelele FC have confirmed the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February on a season-long loan, completing the 30-year-old’s move away from the Betway Premiership champions.

The transfer was first reported by iDiski Times, with February now set to join Lehlohonolo Seema’s side for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

February had attracted interest from Sekhukhune United, but Babina Noko instead secured the return of former goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi after his release by Orlando Pirates.

His move to Siwelele means the club will again have a Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper in their squad. Ricardo Goss spent the previous season with the side before returning to Chloorkop, where Sundowns are based.

February joined Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs, in 2019. However, he has made only eight appearances for the club since arriving and has spent much of his time away from the first-team picture.

During his time with Sundowns, February has had loan spells at Cape Umoya United, Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu. The latest move is intended to give him regular playing time during the upcoming season.

The goalkeeper will now work under Seema at Siwelele, with the loan providing him with another opportunity to gain match experience after limited opportunities at Sundowns.

Sundowns’ decision to send February out on loan follows the recent arrangement involving Goss, who spent last season with Siwelele before making his return to Chloorkop. February’s arrival therefore continues the connection between the two clubs in the goalkeeping department.

The move also brings certainty to February’s immediate future after Sekhukhune United had been considered among the clubs interested in signing him. That possibility ended when the club brought back Buthelezi following his departure from Orlando Pirates.

February’s primary objective at Siwelele will be to play regularly and build momentum during the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign. His previous loan spells at Cape Umoya United, Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu form part of a career in which opportunities at Sundowns have been restricted despite his arrival from Ajax Cape Town in 2019.
