Asem Salah to lead National Bank of Egypt against Ghazl El Mahalla as Ayman El Ramady recovers

National Bank of Egypt chairman Ashraf Nassar has confirmed that Asem Salah will take charge of the team’s next match against Ghazl El Mahalla, with head coach Ayman El Ramady absent after being admitted to hospital.

El Ramady became unwell on Saturday morning and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. His condition has since stabilised after he underwent a procedure to have a heart stent inserted.

Nassar told FilGoal.com: “Asem Salah is the one who will lead the team technically in the next match against Ghazl El Mahalla because of Ayman El Ramady’s absence.”

The match is scheduled to take place on Monday in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium.

El Ramady is expected to leave hospital on Sunday, once doctors have completed their final assessment of his condition. No further details about the nature of his illness were provided.

Salah will therefore oversee National Bank of Egypt for the fixture as the club continues its campaign after an inconsistent opening to the league season. The team have won one match and lost two of their first three games.

El Ramady has been in charge of National Bank of Egypt since the beginning of last season. His absence means Salah will lead the side for the upcoming meeting with Ghazl El Mahalla while the manager remains under medical supervision.

The club confirmed the temporary change in technical leadership through Nassar, who said Salah would be responsible for the team during Monday’s game. The fixture will be the fourth league match of the campaign for both sides.

National Bank of Egypt will be aiming to improve on a record of one victory and two defeats from the opening three rounds, while El Ramady’s planned discharge on Sunday will depend on doctors being satisfied with his recovery following the heart procedure.
