Zanzibar president doubles CAF victory bonuses for KVZ and KMKM

Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi has doubled the victory bonuses for the country’s representatives in CAF club competitions, promising bigger financial rewards as KVZ and KMKM pursue continental success.

The president increased the winning bonus from TSh 5m to TSh 10m (about $3,774) for every CAF match won by either club.

He also announced a TSh 1m (around $377) reward for every goal scored by the two teams during their continental campaigns, adding further incentive for attacking performances.

The announcement comes as Zanzibar’s clubs continue their efforts to make a greater impact in African club football.

KVZ are representing Zanzibar in the CAF Champions League, while KMKM are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, Africa’s second-tier club competition.

The revised bonuses mean a single victory accompanied by two goals would earn a team TSh 12m in presidential rewards, a significant increase from the previous incentive structure.

Mwinyi’s decision is expected to provide a financial boost to both squads as they face the demanding challenge of continental competition, where travel costs, player welfare and competitive preparations often place additional pressure on clubs.

The move also underlines Zanzibar’s ambition to strengthen its presence in African football by rewarding success on the continent and encouraging clubs to compete more aggressively in CAF tournaments.
