Moussa Diaby ready for Bayer Leverkusen return against Union Berlin

Moussa Diaby is in contention to make his first appearance since returning to Bayer Leverkusen when Union Berlin visit the BayArena on Saturday.

The 27-year-old attacker is fit and available, although head coach Carles Martinez has yet to decide whether he will start or initially feature from the bench.

Diaby’s return gives Leverkusen an important boost in the final third. The Frenchman is expected to bring pace, versatility and a direct threat, with Martínez highlighting his ability to operate effectively in different attacking positions.

“He will be important,” Martinez said. “Especially with his speed, he can attack spaces all the time.”

The coach also praised Diaby’s left foot and his capacity to threaten opponents from wide areas or more central positions. His arrival provides tactical flexibility while adding another player capable of producing decisive moments in front of goal.

“He can provide assists and score goals. With him, we improve our probability of scoring goals,” Martinez added.

After two encouraging training sessions, Diaby is a confirmed squad option for the Bundesliga encounter. The final decision on his role will come closer to kick-off, but his availability alone offers Leverkusen a timely attacking lift.
