Karim El Debes has recovered from a hamstring injury and has started a gradual return to full team training with Al Ahly.
The 23-year-old left-back suffered the injury during Al Ahly’s first-round league match against Eastern Company Enppi. His return to collective training is being managed progressively as he completes the final stages of his recovery.
El Debes is expected to be medically fit to face Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League next Wednesday. The match will be played at Al Mokawloon Al Arab Stadium and will conclude the fourth round of the competition.
His availability would provide Al Ahly with an additional option at left-back as the club prepares for its next league fixture. El Debes has been working his way back after missing action because of the hamstring problem, with his participation in team sessions increasing gradually.
Al Ahly also recently announced that El Debes had extended his contract with the club until 2030.
The defender spent last season on loan at Ceramica Cleopatra before returning to Al Ahly. He initially joined Al Ahly from Wadi Degla in 2022 and has since made 37 appearances for the club in all competitions.
During that time, El Debes has provided five assists and helped Al Ahly win six trophies.
Al Ahly are scheduled to play Team FC in a friendly on Friday as part of their preparations for the meeting with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, who are known as the Mountain Wolves.
The Egyptian champions currently sit second in the league table with nine points. They are level on points with leaders Pyramids FC but trail on goal difference.
El Debes’ return comes as Al Ahly continue their preparations for the fourth-round fixture, with the club seeking to maintain its strong position near the top of the table. His medical clearance will determine whether he can be included in the squad for the match, but he is expected to be ready to play after completing his gradual reintegration into full training.
The defender’s new long-term contract, his return from a loan spell at Ceramica Cleopatra and his progress from injury all form part of Al Ahly’s latest preparations for the upcoming league encounter.
