Sheriff Sinyan, the Gambian-Norwegian centre-back currently at FC Rapid 1923, has been linked with a move to FC Rapid 1923 from CFR Cluj.

The reported switch would keep the 30-year-old in Romania’s SuperLiga, following his departure from CFR Cluj at the end of the 2025-26 season. Sinyan joined Rapid on 4 September 2026 after becoming a free agent, with the rumour concerning the move from his former club.

Sinyan has signed a contract with Rapid running until 30 June 2027. He previously moved to CFR Cluj from Norwegian side Odd in January 2025, also on a free transfer.

The Oslo-born defender has made 38 appearances in Romania’s top flight, including championship-group matches, and has scored once while providing one assist. He also featured in the Romanian Cup during his time in the country and helped CFR Cluj win the competition in the 2024-25 season.

Sinyan began his senior career at Lillestrøm before later playing for Molde, where he won the Norwegian Cup in 2021 and 2023. He also spent a brief spell with Czech club Slavia Prague before returning to Norway with Odd.

The latest registration places Sinyan at Rapid, where his current deal leaves him under contract until the summer of 2027.
