CAF inspects Arusha Stadium as Tanzania steps up AFCON 2027 preparations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has inspected key facilities in Arusha as Tanzania intensifies preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF officials assessed Arusha Stadium, training facilities and key medical centres as part of the latest inspection of Tanzania’s readiness to stage matches during the continental tournament.

Tanzania will co-host AFCON 2027 alongside Kenya and Uganda, with the three East African nations working together to deliver the first tournament in the region to be jointly hosted by the three countries.

The inspection of Arusha’s facilities forms part of CAF’s broader assessment of infrastructure, with stadiums, training grounds, medical facilities and other essential requirements expected to meet the governing body’s standards before the tournament.

Arusha is among the Tanzanian locations being considered as the country prepares to welcome some of Africa’s leading national teams and supporters.

The inspection also provides an opportunity for CAF to identify areas requiring further work well ahead of the tournament, giving the Tanzanian authorities time to address any outstanding issues.

The 2027 AFCON is expected to be a major sporting event for East Africa, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda sharing hosting responsibilities.

For Tanzania, preparations have increasingly focused on ensuring that its stadiums and supporting infrastructure are ready to meet the demands of a 24-team continental championship.

The CAF inspection is therefore an important stage in the country’s preparations, as organisers seek to demonstrate that the required facilities will be ready when the tournament arrives.
