AS Roma weigh attacking options as free agents Zaha and Diatta enter the frame

AS Roma are considering moves for free agents Wilfried Zaha and Krepin Diatta as they continue their search for a player capable of adding pace, creativity and greater threat in the final third.

The Italian club has turned to the free-agent market after its pursuit of Jamie Leweling from Stuttgart failed to produce an agreement. Sporting director Tony D’Amico is understood to have compiled a shortlist of potential targets who could meet the requirements of the coaching staff.

Zaha is among the players being assessed, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Ivory Coast international, who has previously played for Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Charlotte FC, offers considerable experience at the highest level.

The 33-year-old is currently without a club and was already close to joining Roma in 2023. His availability could make him an attractive option for the Giallorossi, who want to bring in a player capable of contributing immediately.

According to exclusive information from Africafoot, Swiss club Young Boys also want to make an approach for Zaha.

Diatta provides a younger alternative

Roma are also looking at Senegal international Krepin Diatta. The winger is attracting interest from Crystal Palace, as previously reported exclusively by Africafoot, and has been without a club since leaving Monaco.

Diatta could offer Roma another option on the left side of their attack. His status as a free agent has kept him on the market, while his estimated value is €6m, according to Transfermarkt. Zaha’s estimated value is listed at €3.5m.

Roma have not ruled out strengthening at left-back either. Raphael Guerreiro, the Portugal international who is available after leaving Bayern Munich, could be considered at a later stage.

The club therefore still has several decisions to make as it evaluates the different profiles. Zaha and Diatta are currently among the possible solutions to provide additional creativity and depth in the attacking areas, while Guerreiro could address a separate need in defence.

The options come as Roma prepare for their Serie A meeting with Atalanta on the third matchday of the Italian league. Atalanta are due to face Roma, with the available betting odds listing an Atalanta win at 4.80, a draw at 3.70 and a Roma victory at 1.66, according to bookmaker 1xbet.
