Samuel Nibombe transfer rumour: KV Kortrijk linked with Monaco defender

Belgian-Togolese defender Samuel Nibombe is being linked with a move from Monaco to Belgian club KV Kortrijk.

The 19-year-old centre-back is currently with Monaco in Ligue 1, while Kortrijk are competing in the Jupiler Pro League. The reported move would see Nibombe return to Belgium, where he was born and began his development before joining Monaco’s academy.

Nibombe has not made an appearance for Monaco this season, with the defender yet to feature in either of the club’s two possible Ligue 1 matches or their two UEFA Conference League qualifying fixtures. He has been named as part of Monaco’s senior set-up after progressing from the club’s Under-21 side at the start of July.

The 1.98m right-footed defender joined Monaco Under-19s from Charleroi’s youth system in July 2023 and moved through the club’s development structure before stepping up to the first team. His progression has brought him into consideration for a potential switch to Kortrijk, although the rumour has not been confirmed.

Nibombe’s current contract with Monaco runs until 30 June 2027. His listed market value is €1m, but no transfer fee or probability has been reported in connection with the possible move.
