Real Madrid check on teenage debut as seven miss Real Betis trip

Real Madrid will be without seven players for Friday’s La Liga meeting with Real Betis in Seville, while 19-year-old midfielder Sergio Martinez could be included in the squad after joining the club from Racing in recent days.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Aurelien Tchouameni, Endrick, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy, Raul Asencio and Tiago Pitarch will all miss the trip to face Real Betis.

The absence of those players could open the door for Martinez, who was initially expected to begin life at Real Madrid with Castilla. Instead, he has been training with the first team and may make his first appearance in a Real Madrid squad against Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Martinez joined Real Madrid from Racing in the last few days. His possible inclusion would represent an early opportunity to be involved with the senior team despite his original pathway being through the club’s reserve side.

The squad is also expected to feature Mario Rivas and Cestero as Real Madrid prepare for the fixture in Seville.

Final preparations completed

Real Madrid confirmed on their official website that the squad’s final training session began with rondos, designed to activate the players before the group moved on to tactical work.

The session then focused on pressing and possession, with the players finishing the workout through small-sided games in confined areas.

The preparations were completed against the backdrop of a lengthy absentee list, with Mourinho unable to recover any of the seven unavailable players in time for Friday’s match.
