Al-Ahli in advanced talks to sign Monaco prospect Pape Cabral

Al-Ahli are in advanced negotiations with Monaco over a deal for teenage midfielder Pape Cabral, with an agreement worth about €10m expected to be reached in the coming days.

The talks were reported by French newspaper L’Equipe, which says the Saudi Pro League club have opened serious discussions with Monaco to sign one of the French club’s most promising young players.

Cabral, a 19-year-old French-Senegalese midfielder, came through Monaco’s academy and has continued to make steady progress within the club. He is regarded as one of Monaco’s leading emerging talents, but could now leave the club for Al-Ahli before the next stage of his career begins.

Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to be at an advanced stage. While a final agreement has not yet been confirmed, the proposed transfer fee is thought to be approximately €10m.

The potential move would add another young prospect to Al-Ahli’s squad while giving Monaco another sizeable sale in the Gulf region. The French club have already completed two notable transfers involving young players in recent deals.

Last year, Monaco sold Simon Bouabre to Neom for the same fee of €10m. Before that, George Ilenikhena moved to Al-Ittihad in a deal worth €33m.

A transfer for Cabral would therefore represent another significant piece of business for Monaco, particularly given the player’s age and status as a product of the club’s youth system. It would also continue the growing flow of young European-based players to the Roshn Saudi League.

Cabral’s development has attracted attention during his time at Monaco, where he has been viewed as a player with the potential to progress towards the highest level. His French-Senegalese background and academy experience have formed part of his emergence as one of the club’s notable rising names.

For Al-Ahli, the negotiations offer the prospect of securing a player who has already established himself as one of Monaco’s most highly regarded young midfielders. The club are now attempting to complete the final stages of a deal that could be concluded in the near future.
