Ghana star Antoine Semenyo emerges as Manchester City’s emergency striker option

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a potential emergency striker option for Manchester City, with Erling Haaland currently the club’s only natural centre-forward.

The Premier League giants appear well-equipped across most positions but could find themselves short of options in attack, with Haaland the only recognised striker in the squad.

Should Haaland be unavailable at any point during the season, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca could turn to Semenyo to operate as a temporary centre-forward.

Semenyo’s versatility makes him a suitable candidate for the role. Although the Ghana star has predominantly operated as a winger or forward, his pace, physical strength, direct running and ability to play across the frontline could allow him to lead the attack when required.

Haaland remains City’s primary striker and one of the most important players in Guardiola’s system. However, the absence of another established natural centre-forward could create a significant gap in the squad if the Norwegian is sidelined through injury.

Semenyo, who joined Manchester City during the January transfer window, has established himself as an important member of the team and could provide Guardiola with an alternative attacking solution when needed.

The Ghanaian was instrumental in Manchester City’s success last season, playing a key role as the club secured both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup titles.

His ability to operate in multiple attacking positions could therefore prove particularly valuable should City be forced to cope without Haaland for any period of the campaign.
