Raja Casablanca terminate Nassereddine Nabi’s contract as coach seeks $449,000 from club

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have reportedly terminated the contract of head coach Nassereddine Nabi without reaching an agreement with the Tunisian coach.

Nabi is now expected to take the matter to FIFA in an attempt to recover unpaid wages believed to be worth 4.2 million Moroccan dirhams (about $449,000).

The reported dispute follows Raja’s decision to end the coach’s contract, with Nabi allegedly not agreeing to the termination.

According to reports, the coach is seeking compensation for outstanding payments following the breakdown of his relationship with the Casablanca-based club.

Nabi was reportedly earning 420,000 dirhams (approximately $44,900) per month during his time at Raja.

The amount being claimed is equivalent to roughly 10 months of his reported monthly salary, although the exact breakdown of the 4.2 million dirhams being demanded has not been publicly detailed.

The case could now be taken before FIFA’s relevant judicial bodies if the two parties fail to reach an agreement.

Nabi’s reported move to FIFA would add another contractual dispute to the growing list of cases involving clubs and coaches across African football, where disagreements over compensation following early terminations have occasionally resulted in legal proceedings.

Raja Casablanca, one of Morocco’s most successful clubs, have yet to publicly confirm the reported amount being claimed by Nabi or provide details of the circumstances surrounding the termination.

The coach’s future will now depend partly on the outcome of the contractual dispute, while Raja will have to focus on finding a replacement and preparing for the remainder of their campaign.

The reported dispute also highlights the financial consequences clubs can face when coaching contracts are terminated before their agreed expiry dates, particularly when compensation clauses or outstanding salaries remain unresolved.
