Galatasaray make move for Celta Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba
Guinea-Spanish midfielder Ilaix Moriba is being linked with a move from Celta de Vigo to Galatasaray in Turkey’s Super Lig.
The 23-year-old central midfielder has been at Celta since joining permanently from RB Leipzig in July 2025, in a transfer reported at €6m. He has a contract with the Spanish club until 30 June 2029.
Moriba has played in all three of Celta’s La Liga matches so far this season, making two starts and completing 148 minutes. He has not scored or provided an assist during that run.
The reported interest from Galatasaray comes after Moriba’s second spell at Celta became a permanent arrangement last summer. He had initially joined the club on loan from Leipzig in August 2024, before returning to Germany at the end of that campaign and then signing for Celta on a full-time basis.
Moriba began his senior career at Barcelona, moving into the first team in 2021 before joining Leipzig later that year. He also spent loan spells at Valencia and Getafe during his time with the German club.
He won the Spanish Cup with Barcelona in the 2020-21 season and has represented both Guinea and Spain at youth level. Any move to Galatasaray would come with Moriba still under long-term contract at Celta, where he remains part of the midfield group at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
