Al Ahly’s Mohamed Dhaoui Cristo trains alone as club seeks next move

Mohamed Dhaoui Cristo is training on his own at Al Ahly while the club decides what to do with the Tunisia forward, whose loan spell at Etoile du Sahel has now ended.

Al Ahly are attempting to find a new destination for the player in leagues where the registration window remains open. If those efforts are unsuccessful, the club could reach an agreement with Cristo over his outstanding financial entitlements before ending his time at Al Ahly by mutual consent.

Cristo joined Al Ahly in 2023 from Etoile du Sahel. Since arriving in Egypt, he has spent two periods away from the club on loan, first with CS Sfaxien and then with Etoile du Sahel.

His latest temporary spell with Etoile du Sahel has now concluded, leaving the 23-year-old training separately as discussions continue over his future. Al Ahly are exploring the possibility of placing him with another club rather than retaining him as part of their squad.

Cristo was not included in Al Ahly’s squad for the new season. The club’s allocation of foreign players has been completed, meaning there is no place for him among the registered overseas players.

The Tunisian made 29 appearances for Etoile du Sahel during the previous season, scoring once and providing one assist. His record during his time with Al Ahly stands at 15 appearances, with no goals and one assist.

Those figures cover his participation for the club before his latest loan move, while his two temporary spells have taken him away from Al Ahly as the club assessed his role and future.

For now, Cristo remains an Al Ahly player and continues to train individually. The club’s immediate priority is to secure a move in one of the competitions where registration is still available. Should no suitable move be arranged, Al Ahly may settle the player’s dues and bring their relationship to an end through a mutual agreement.

The situation follows a period in which Cristo has moved between Al Ahly and clubs in Tunisia. His first change of club after joining Al Ahly was a loan move to CS Sfaxien, before he later returned to Etoile du Sahel on another temporary transfer.

With the foreign-player places in Al Ahly’s new-season squad already filled, the club must now either find a market for Cristo or agree terms for his departure. Until that decision is reached, the forward will continue his individual training at the club.
