Zamalek agree to terminate volleyball player Mohamed Adel ‘Dola’s contract

Zamalek have agreed to terminate the contract of volleyball player Mohamed Adel “Dola” at the player’s request, a club source has told FilGoal.com.

Dola had filed a complaint against Zamalek with the Volleyball Federation, seeking to end his contract with the club. The dispute centred on unpaid financial dues, including an outstanding advance payment that was due to be received on 15 August.

A source at Zamalek told FilGoal.com: “We agreed to terminate the contract with Mohamed Adel ‘Dola’, the volleyball team player, at the player’s request.”

The source added: “Zamalek’s management will pay all of the player’s outstanding financial dues from the previous period in full.”

Dola’s complaint reportedly stated that he had not received the advance payment included in his contract. The agreement also contains a clause allowing the player to terminate the contract if the advance payment is not made.

Zamalek said the decision to end the contract was taken after the player requested it, while the club has also confirmed that it intends to settle the money owed to him.

The source further said: “Zamalek’s board of directors has decided to take decisive measures against any player who uses social media platforms to discuss internal matters or issues concerning the team.”

The club’s position means the termination will be accompanied by the payment of Dola’s outstanding dues, according to the source. His complaint to the Volleyball Federation had sought the cancellation of his agreement with Zamalek on the basis that the contractual payment had not been made.

Dola joined Zamalek in 2023 after leaving Al Ahly, signing a two-year contract with the club. Before the latest decision, Mohamed Adel had extended his agreement with Zamalek for a further two seasons.

The player’s departure now brings that extended arrangement to an end, following the club’s acceptance of his request to terminate the contract.

The decision also comes with the board’s warning that it will act against players who discuss internal team or club matters on social media. Zamalek’s management has therefore combined its agreement to release Dola with a broader statement about how it expects players to handle issues related to the team.
