Mostafa Shobeir extends Al Ahly stay

Al Ahly have announced the contract extension of Egyptian international goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir, securing the services of one of their key players for the long term.

The new agreement brings an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding the 26-year-old’s future, following reports linking him with a possible move to Europe after his impressive performances for Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shobeir had reportedly attracted interest from several European clubs, with his performances on the international stage further enhancing his growing reputation. However, despite the speculation surrounding his future, the goalkeeper has opted to remain with the Egyptian giants.

The new deal will keep Shobeir at Al Ahly until June 2029, extending his long association with Africa’s most successful club.

The Egyptian international has been part of the Al Ahly set-up since 2019 and has gradually developed into one of the club’s most important players. Since making his professional breakthrough, Shobeir has consistently demonstrated his quality in domestic and continental competitions.

His performances in the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League have established him as one of the standout goalkeepers in Egyptian football, while his recent displays for the national team have further strengthened his reputation.

The decision to commit his future to Al Ahly will come as a major boost to the club, particularly at a time when interest in his services had reportedly increased following the World Cup.

For the Red Devils, the contract extension represents an important piece of long-term planning, with the club ensuring that one of its most valuable assets remains at the Cairo-based side for the foreseeable future.

Shobeir, meanwhile, will now continue his journey with the club where he has spent the majority of his professional career, with the goalkeeper expected to remain a crucial figure as Al Ahly pursue further domestic and continental success.

By tying the Egyptian international down until 2029, Al Ahly have sent a clear message about their determination to retain their best talents and maintain a strong squad capable of competing for major honours in the coming years.
