Crystal Palace complete late Ben Chilwell and Quinten Timber deals after deadline

Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signings of England defender Ben Chilwell and Netherlands international Quinten Timber after submitting deal sheets to the Premier League following Tuesday’s 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

The paperwork allowed both moves to be finalised after the deadline had passed, with the two players becoming late additions to the Palace squad.

Chilwell returns to Selhurst Park after previously spending the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace from RC Strasbourg. The 21-cap England defender joined the French club from Chelsea in September 2025, having earlier played for Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.

The 28-year-old was part of the Palace side that won the FA Cup in May 2025 and said he was delighted to be back with the club.

“It’s amazing to be back,” said Chilwell, who won the FA Cup with Palace in May 2025.

“It’s nice to see some familiar faces, and I’m just really excited to get back in, see the boys and the fans, and get going again.”

Chilwell’s return gives Palace a player who is already familiar with the club, its supporters and a number of his new team-mates. His previous spell at Selhurst Park came during the latter part of the 2024-25 season, before his move to RC Strasbourg.

Timber has joined Palace from Marseille on a five-year contract. The 25-year-old midfielder has won 13 caps for the Netherlands and was included in their squad for this summer’s World Cup.

He is also the brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber. Palace have therefore completed two permanent deals involving players with international experience, although the club concluded both transfers after the formal deadline had passed.

The late additions were made possible by deal sheets being submitted to the Premier League. That process enabled Palace and the relevant clubs to finish the transfers despite the 23:00 BST cut-off on Tuesday.

Palace also completed the signing of Chilean winger Dario Osorio from FC Midtjylland on a season-long loan. His temporary move was concluded alongside the permanent arrivals of Chilwell and Timber.

Osorio’s loan means Palace strengthened their attacking options as well as adding defensive and midfield experience before the transfer window closed. The club’s three deals were all completed as part of the late transfer activity, with the permanent additions of Chilwell and Timber formally confirmed after the deadline.

Palace’s recruitment has consequently included the return of a former FA Cup winner, the arrival of a Netherlands international from Marseille and a season-long loan for Osorio from FC Midtjylland.
