Mohammed Fuseini joins Derby after trophy-laden spell at Union Saint-Gilloise

Ghanaian centre-forward Mohammed Fuseini has joined Derby from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise on loan, giving the Championship club a new attacking option for the 2026-27 season.

The move was completed on 1 September and is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027. Fuseini, 24, joins Derby after two years with Union, whom he moved to from Austrian side Sturm Graz for €2m in July 2024.

Fuseini has already made three appearances for Union this season, contributing one assist in the Jupiler Pro League and one assist in the Belgian Super Cup. He also scored once in two Champions League qualifying appearances.

The Ghanaian striker played a part in a successful period for Union Saint-Gilloise, helping the club win the Belgian title in the 2024-25 campaign and the Belgian Cup in 2026. He also collected a Belgian Super Cup winners’ medal this season.

Before moving to Belgium, Fuseini spent time with Sturm Graz and made a temporary switch to Randers FC during the 2023-24 season. He helped Sturm Graz win the Austrian league and cup double in 2023-24, having also lifted the Austrian Cup with the club in 2022-23.

Fuseini began his senior career with Sturm Graz II after joining from Ghanaian academy Right to Dream in February 2022. His career has included spells in Austria, Denmark and Belgium before his move to England.

The right-footed forward was born in Accra and is listed at 1.69m. He joins Derby with the club competing in the Championship, although he has yet to make a league appearance for his new side.

Fuseini’s arrival gives Derby a forward with recent experience of domestic title competition and European qualification. His record at Union this season includes two starts across his three appearances, with a goal involvement in each of the three competitions in which he has featured.

The completed loan transfer brings the Ghana international to Derby from Union Saint-Gilloise until the end of June 2027.
