England-Nigeria defender Daniel Oyegoke joins Lincoln City after Verona spell

England-Nigeria right-back Daniel Oyegoke has joined Lincoln City from Italian club Hellas Verona, returning to the Championship on a contract running until 30 June 2030.

The 23-year-old made the move on 1 September 2026 after spending the opening weeks of the season with Verona in Serie B. He made one league appearance, playing 61 minutes, and also started the club’s Italy Cup match, completing 90 minutes.

Oyegoke is a right-footed defender who stands 1.88m tall and arrives at Lincoln with experience of English football, having previously played for Hearts, Bradford and MK Dons. He joined Verona from Heart of Midlothian in January 2025 after beginning his professional career with Brentford B.

His time at Bradford came during a loan spell from Brentford B in the 2023-24 season. He then joined Hearts on a free transfer in July 2024 before moving to Verona for €400,000 six months later.

Oyegoke’s early career was shaped by Arsenal, where he progressed from the club’s youth set-up to the under-23 side before switching to Brentford B in 2021. He won the Premier League Cup with Brentford’s under-21 team in the 2022-23 campaign.

At international level, Oyegoke represented England and was part of the side that won the European Under-19 Championship in 2022. His dual nationality also includes Nigeria.

Lincoln compete in the Championship, while Verona began the 2026-27 campaign in Serie B, giving Oyegoke a return to the English second tier after his spell abroad.

The completed move gives Lincoln a defender with experience across England’s professional divisions and in Italian football, while Oyegoke joins the club on a deal that keeps him there until June 2030.
