Genoa sign England and The Gambia defender Cody Drameh from Hull City for €4.5m

England and The Gambia defender Cody Drameh has joined Genoa from Hull City for €4.5m, completing a move to the Serie A club on 1 September 2026.

The 24-year-old right-back becomes a Genoa player after two seasons with Hull, where he arrived from Leeds on a free transfer in July 2024. His move to Italy represents the latest step in a career that has included spells in England’s Premier League and Championship.

Drameh began his senior development at Fulham, progressing from the club’s youth team to Fulham Under-23s before moving to Leeds United Under-23s in August 2020 for €440,000. He subsequently joined Leeds’ first team and spent time away from Elland Road on loan.

The defender played for Cardiff during the 2021-22 season, followed by a loan spell at Luton in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign. He then spent the opening part of the 2023-24 season with Birmingham before returning to Leeds at the end of that loan.

Drameh left Leeds permanently for Hull in July 2024, and has now moved on after two years with the Championship club. Genoa have paid €4.5m for the transfer, with the fee exceeding his listed market value of €3m.

The London-born defender is primarily a right-back and uses his right foot. He is 1.81m tall and has made two Premier League appearances and one EFL Cup appearance during his senior career.

Genoa compete in Italy’s top flight, giving Drameh a move outside England for the first time at senior club level. He joins the Italian side after building his career through English academies and a series of first-team loan assignments.

The transfer was completed on 1 September 2026, with Drameh leaving Hull City to join Genoa for €4.5m.
