Mostafa Mohamed joins Konyaspor on three-year deal after Nantes departure

Mostafa Mohamed has joined Turkish club Konyaspor from Nantes on a three-year contract, returning to the Turkish league for a second spell during the summer transfer window.

The Egypt striker’s move was confirmed by Konyaspor after the club reached an agreement with Nantes. The signing ceremony took place at Konyaspor’s museum, located inside the club’s stadium.

Mohamed will wear the number 42 shirt for his new side.

The transfer had been dependent on the future of Konyaspor forward Blaz Kramer. The Slovenia international left the Turkish club earlier on the same day, allowing the move for Mohamed to go ahead.

The 28-year-old still had one season remaining on his Nantes contract, which was due to expire in the summer of 2027. However, his future in France had become uncertain after Nantes were relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

Mohamed was absent for much of Nantes’ pre-season after stopping training at the start of the campaign. He later returned to work with the club’s reserve team rather than the first-team squad.

The former Tanta forward was also left out of Nantes’ first three matches of the season before completing his move to Konyaspor.

His transfer marks a return to the Turkish league, where Mohamed previously played for Galatasaray. Nantes signed him from Galatasaray for 6.5m euros.

Mohamed joined Nantes three years ago and made 136 appearances for the French club. He scored 29 goals during that period.

The striker now moves to Konyaspor as part of a group of prominent Egyptian players continuing their careers in Turkey. He follows Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor.

Mohamed began his senior career with Tanta before moving on to other clubs and eventually establishing himself in European football. His first spell in Turkey came with Galatasaray, where he played before making his move to Nantes permanent.

Konyaspor’s confirmation brings an end to a period of uncertainty surrounding Mohamed’s position at Nantes. The French club’s relegation, his interrupted preparation and his omission from the opening three matches had left his situation unresolved, despite the remaining year on his contract.

At Konyaspor, Mohamed will begin his second Turkish adventure with a three-season commitment and a new squad number. The club completed the formalities at its stadium museum after Kramer’s departure cleared the way for the deal.
