Mousa Balla Sowe: Gambia winger joins SS Milazzo from Pompei

The Gambia winger Mousa Balla Sowe has joined Italian club SS Milazzo from Pompei on a free transfer, completing a move that brings the 29-year-old to Serie D – I.

Sowe signed for Milazzo on 1 September 2026 and has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2027. The right winger becomes part of a squad competing in Italy’s fourth tier after leaving Pompei, where he had arrived in December 2025, also on a free transfer.

Born in Banjul on 2 February 1997, Sowe began his senior career in Italy after moving from Gambian club Real de Banjul to Parma in July 2015. He subsequently spent time without a club before joining Vibonese in 2017, marking the next stage of a career that has been largely built in the Italian leagues.

The forward has since represented Gela, Turris, Monterosi, Atletico Fiuggi, Roma City, Hamrun Spartans, Afragolese, Porto d’Ascoli, Cavese, Prato, Scafatese, Cassino, Portici and Pompei. His move to Milazzo is his latest club change in a career that has featured a series of free transfers across Italy and Malta.

Sowe was part of the Hamrun Spartans side that won the Maltese championship in the 2022-23 season. His record in Serie D includes 79 appearances, 15 goals and four assists in Serie D – I, along with 65 appearances, 11 goals and nine assists in Serie D – G. He also recorded nine goals and three assists in 33 appearances in Serie D – F.

The 1.76m forward is naturally right-footed and will give Milazzo an experienced option on the right side of attack. His strongest recorded market value was €100,000, while his current valuation is €10,000.

Sowe’s most recent move before joining Milazzo came when he left Portici for Pompei on 20 December 2025. He had previously switched from Cassino to Portici and from Scafatese to Cassino during the 2025-26 season, with each of those transfers completed without a fee.

The player’s earlier spell with Hamrun Spartans remains the only honour recorded in his career, but he now begins a new chapter with Milazzo in Serie D – I. Sowe has completed his free transfer to SS Milazzo on a contract that runs through June 2027.
