TSV Wiesbaden sign Gambian-German defender Dawda Njie on free transfer

Gambian-German centre-back Dawda Njie has joined TSV Wiesbaden from Schott Mainz on a free transfer, strengthening the club’s defence ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The 25-year-old defender completed the move on 1 September 2026 and has agreed a contract with TSV Wiesbaden running until 30 June 2027. He will play for the club in the Verbandsliga Hessen-Mitte.

Njie arrives after a short spell with Schott Mainz, having joined the club from SV Dersim on 8 July 2026, also on a free transfer. His move to Wiesbaden marks a return to the club, where he previously played during the 2025-26 season.

He first joined TSV Wiesbaden from SV Dersim on 1 July 2025, before leaving for the same club on 1 January 2026. During that period, he was part of a career that had largely been built through clubs in Germany’s regional football structure.

Njie began his senior career with SV Gonsenheim after moving from Biebrich 02’s under-19 side in July 2020. He then joined TSG Worsdorf in October of the same year before switching to Optik Rathenow in July 2023.

The defender moved to RW Koblenz in July 2024 and subsequently signed for SV Dersim in August that year. His return to TSV Wiesbaden in 2025 was followed by further free transfers to SV Dersim and Schott Mainz before he completed his latest move.

Njie developed in the youth system at TSV Schott, joining the club’s under-17 team from Schott’s youth side in January 2018. He later moved to Gonsenheim’s under-17s in July 2018 before progressing to Biebrich 02’s under-19 team.

His immediate task at TSV Wiesbaden will be to compete for a place in the centre of defence. The club’s 2026-27 schedule includes matches in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar, the DFB-Pokal and the Landespokal Sudwest.

Njie’s return gives TSV Wiesbaden a defender with experience of several German clubs and completes his latest change of club within the opening months of the 2026-27 season. He joined Schott Mainz in July before moving to TSV Wiesbaden on 1 September.
