Beto swaps Everton for Fiorentina in €18m Serie A move

Portugal and Guinea-Bissau forward Beto has joined Fiorentina from Everton for €18m, completing a high-profile switch from the Premier League to Serie A.

The 28-year-old centre-forward moves to the Italian club after two appearances for Everton in the opening stages of the 2026-27 Premier League season. He did not score in those outings and played 31 minutes in total before changing clubs on 1 September.

Beto arrived at Fiorentina after three seasons with Everton, having initially moved to the English club from Udinese in August 2023 for €25m. His time at Goodison Park followed a productive spell in Italy, where he played for Udinese after joining from Portuguese side Portimonense.

The striker’s move to Udinese began with a loan from Portimonense in August 2021. That arrangement ended the following June, before Udinese completed his signing for €15m. Beto then moved to Everton the next summer, establishing a transfer path that has now taken him back to Italy.

Born in Lisbon, Beto came through football in Portugal and began his senior career with lower-league clubs before progressing to Portimonense. He joined Portimonense’s under-23 side from CO Montijo in 2019 and later made the step into the club’s first team. His earlier development included spells with Tires and Oeiras.

Standing at 1.94m, the right-footed striker is listed as a centre-forward and has spent the bulk of his professional career in that role. Fiorentina have secured his services as the player enters the latest stage of a career that has included senior football in Portugal, Italy and England.

The transfer represents Fiorentina’s acquisition of an experienced attacking player with recent Premier League and Serie A experience. Beto’s previous Italian spell came before his move to Everton, while his arrival in Florence brings him back to the country where he first played outside Portugal.

Beto’s completed transfer from Everton to Fiorentina is valued at €18m.
