Louey Ben Farhat returns to Karlsruher SC on loan from Freiburg

Tunisia-Germany forward Louey Ben Farhat has joined Karlsruher SC on loan from Freiburg, returning to the 2. Bundesliga club where he began his senior career.

The 20-year-old second striker has agreed a deal running until 30 June 2027. Ben Farhat moves back to Karlsruhe after Freiburg paid €7.5m for him on 1 September 2026, with the latest transfer bringing him back to the club for the remainder of the season.

Ben Farhat has already featured in the opening stages of the 2026-27 campaign, making two appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and providing one assist. He has also played once in the DFB-Pokal, completing 45 minutes in the competition.

His early-season involvement at Karlsruhe included 59 minutes across his league appearances, with the forward starting one of his two matches. He has not scored in either competition so far, but his assist gives him one direct contribution in three outings.

Born in Waiblingen, Germany, Ben Farhat represents the dual footballing identity reflected in his Tunisian and German nationalities. He is 1.75m tall and favours his right foot, operating primarily behind the main striker.

The move marks a return to a club that has played a central role in Ben Farhat’s progression. He joined Karlsruhe’s youth structure from Stuttgarter Kickers’ academy in July 2022 and moved from the under-17 side to Karlsruhe’s under-19s a year later. He stepped up to the senior squad in January 2025.

Ben Farhat’s senior career has so far included appearances in Germany’s second tier and the country’s domestic cup. His previous spell with Karlsruher SC produced two 2. Bundesliga appearances and one DFB-Pokal outing at the start of the current campaign, before his transfer to Freiburg and immediate return on loan.

Karlsruher SC compete in the 2. Bundesliga, while Freiburg play in the Bundesliga, giving the move a clear change of setting for the young forward. The loan restores his connection with Karlsruhe while his registration remains tied to Freiburg.

Ben Farhat will stay with Karlsruher SC until 30 June 2027, completing his loan return from Freiburg.
