Sacha Boey could leave Bayern Munich with clubs still exploring late deal

France defender of Cameroonian descent Sacha Boey’s future at Bayern Munich remains uncertain, with the defender training individually as the German transfer window approaches its deadline.

The 25-year-old is fit but has not been training with the first team as Bayern work on finding a solution for his future.

Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed that discussions are ongoing and suggested the club are taking precautions to ensure Boey does not suffer an injury before a potential transfer.

Bayern keep Boey out of team training

Freund said Bayern had agreed with manager Vinnie Kompany and Boey that the defender would train separately for the final days before the transfer deadline.

“Sacha is fit, but in consultation with Vinnie (Kompany; editor’s note) and Sacha himself, we decided that he would train individually for the last day or two before the transfer deadline, because there are currently some talks taking place.”

The decision appears to be aimed at protecting Boey while negotiations continue, with Bayern still open to a late move for the Cameroon international.

Fulham among potential destinations

Fulham have recently been linked with a move for Boey, although there is currently no concrete agreement between the clubs.

Bayern are understood to remain willing to consider their options even after the German transfer deadline passes, with several European leagues keeping their windows open for longer.

Turkey, for example, will allow clubs to complete signings until Friday, while Portugal’s transfer window remains open for another day.

That could give Bayern additional opportunities to find a destination for Boey if no deal is completed before the Bundesliga’s transfer deadline.
