Vancouver Whitecaps bring in Guinea-France striker Yadaly Diaby for €1.3m

Guinea-France striker Yadaly Diaby has joined Vancouver Whitecaps from Grenoble for €1.3m, completing his move from France’s Ligue 2 to Major League Soccer.

The 26-year-old centre-forward has signed a contract with Vancouver running until 30 June 2030. Diaby’s arrival was registered on 1 September 2026, and he becomes a new attacking option for the Canadian club after starting the season with Grenoble.

Diaby made three Ligue 2 appearances for Grenoble during the opening part of the 2026-27 campaign, scoring twice. He started 75% of the matches in which he played and recorded 226 minutes in the competition.

The right-footed forward stands 1.86m tall and was also involved in Grenoble’s Coupe de France campaign during the previous season. He scored once and supplied one assist in two appearances in that competition.

Diaby joined Grenoble from Clermont Foot in February 2025. Before that move, he had spent time with Clermont’s senior and reserve sides, having begun his progression through the French club system at Andrezieux.

His career also includes a spell in Austria with Austria Lustenau, where he played during the 2022-23 season on loan from Clermont Foot before returning to the French club the following summer.

The transfer takes Diaby into MLS after his recent football in France, with Vancouver adding a forward who has scored three goals across his latest Ligue 2 and Coupe de France appearances. His move also marks the latest step in a career that began in the lower levels of French football before reaching the professional game with Clermont Foot.

Diaby holds both Guinean and French nationality. He was born in Saint-Pierre and developed through the French club structure before making the switch to North America.

Vancouver Whitecaps have now completed the signing of Yadaly Diaby from Grenoble on a deal that runs until June 2030.
